I received my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California and a B.Tech. degree in Instrumentation Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. I currently work at Walt Disney Imagineering R&D Los Angeles, USA. I am originally from Kolkata, India.

My broad research interests lie at the nexus of Signal Processing and Machine Learning for speech, multimedia and multimodal applications. These days I work on better understanding different aspects of human-human communication, in the hope that some of these can be imparted to embodied agents for better human-computer interaction. As a result, I am deeply fascinated with speech, language and the way people use these to achieve different social goals.

While the diverse nature of my work allows for exploration of fields not traditionally considered Signal Processing, it often also inspires new ideas that can only come as a result of thinking out of the box.
